Tip for first time parents...
by JC (October 7, 2011) 61 of 64 people found this review helpful
This is a great changing pad cover. Very cute, fits nicely (we're using the LA Baby 4-sided changing pad).

However, there is one tip I want to give first time parents (my daughter was born 4 weeks ago) that I would have found useful when registering ...

Along with a changing pad cover like this one, register for disposable "pee pads" (dr. office calls them "chux", or "underpads", etc). Amazon sells a bunch at reasonable prices (brand: Dynarex). They use these at the hospital and dr.'s office. You put these little pee pads over changing tables and they absorb any accidents. It will save you a LOT of laundry!!! Yes, you can minimize the occurences of accidents by putting a new diaper under the old diaper and other tricks, but no matter what you do you WILL have pee/poop getting on your changing cover frequently!! Downside is you will have more trash than you would have normally, but trust me --- when you are sleep deprived, it is a LOT easier to just throw away a... Read more
Great cover that lasts a long time
by science girl (August 13, 2011) 19 of 19 people found this review helpful
When making my registry 9 months ago, I really didn't know (or care) about which changing pad cover I'd want. I registered for a few and they've been super useful (baby boy peed or pooed on his cover multiple times a day for the first few months). However, now that I've had them awhile, i definitely prefer these from Summer Infant to my ones from Carters. They're both soft and cute- but the elastic has held up through multiple washes, while the others have lost any semblence of shape and don't really stay on the pad anymore. Yay for a well made product!
Cute, but waste of money...
by Jackie "Jackie" (July 10, 2012) 8 of 9 people found this review helpful
My first time Mom mistake : buying a changing pad cover. ANY changing pad cover. Babies are expensive - save your money for more useful items!

Pros:
-Soft
-Seems to hold up well in wash
-Absorptive (but soaks through pretty easy)
-Very cute (I have the monkey). If you're into having the perfect, coordinating nursery decor, this is for you. If you want to save your money for more useful items because no one really sees (or cares) how cute the nursery is except you anyway, skip this one.
-Fits great as a mattress sheet for my Arm's Reach co-sleeper! (and it's much more useful re-purposed this way :)

Cons:
If your son pees while you're changing his diaper like mine does - at least once a day, usually more, a changing pad cover is kind of pointless. Did you notice that nearly all the five star reviews mention that you need to use disposable pee-pads, or burp cloths, or SOMETHING to cover this cover pad? Yep, you do. After washing... Read more
